Fitting and shaping

Unpack the garland and let it rest for a few minutes. Tinsel holds its shape, so you can bend and adjust the strand by hand. Work from one end to the other and shape as you go.

To attach it, use small hooks, clips or clear tape made for the surface you are decorating. Twist the garland gently around a banister for a wrapped look, or drape it in soft swags and secure each low point. Add the bows last so you can see the final spacing before you commit.

If you are using more than one garland, join the ends by twisting the tinsel together. Keep the join at the back of a post or under a swag so it stays out of sight.

Care and storage

Wipe clean with a dry cloth. Do not use water or liquid cleaners on the tinsel or the fabric bows. Dust settles in the flocking over time, so a light wipe before you pack it away keeps it looking fresh for the next season.
